Bristol City head coach Michael Skubala has warned his players not to underestimate his former club Lincoln City ahead of their Championship meeting on Tuesday. The Imps visit Ashton Gate with Skubala facing the team he guided to the League One title just four months ago.
Skubala left Lincoln for Bristol City in the summer after securing promotion. He noted that nine of Lincoln's starters from their 1-0 win at Preston North End on Saturday were in his squad last season, and their joint head coaches Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw were on his staff.
"I see a lot of the identity that I put into the team still being played," Skubala told reporters. "We definitely won't underestimate them because I know how they work."
Lincoln are unbeaten in their last four league games, picking up eight points from their opening six matches. Bristol City sit two points above them in the table with three wins from Skubala's early tenure, but are looking to bounce back from a defeat to Southampton.
The 43-year-old manager said he was "really proud" of his achievements at Sincil Bank but insisted the occasion would not distract from the task. "All good things come to an end," he added. "Now when we cross that white line I'll definitely want to go and beat them."
Tuesday's match is a key fixture in a busy period for the Robins, who will be looking to stays in the upper half of the Championship. Fans can check the team's upcoming fixtures and view the latest standings as the season develops. The game kicks off at Ashton Gate at 19:45 BST.
