Bristol City FC is hosting a major Family Day event at Ashton Gate this Saturday, August 29th, when the Robins face Portsmouth. The club is offering a huge range of activities and discounts to create a memorable matchday for young supporters.
This special event coincides with a key early-season fixture. City currently sit 19th in the Championship with one point from their opening two games, scoring twice but conceding four. They welcome a Portsmouth side positioned 10th in the table, looking to kickstart their campaign in front of a family-friendly crowd.
A full programme of entertainment begins long before the 3pm kick-off. From 12pm, Party Peeps will be in the Fan Village, hosting a foam party between 1.30pm and 2.30pm. The club's mascots, Red & Robyn, will be greeting fans on Marina Dolman Way from midday. Young fans can test their skills in a Panna Cage in the Fan Village or at a blow-up goal on the South Stand Concourse from 1pm.
JoJo’s Face Painting will be stationed between Kofi and the Bristol Sport Store, offering free designs for Junior Reds before the match starts. The Family Area will also host Junior Reds games from 1pm. First-time attendees can collect a commemorative certificate and Junior Reds matchday passports from the A8 Concourse, also from 1pm.
Tickets for Under-12s are priced at just £1 for this fixture, making it an affordable day out. There are also exclusive discounts on food and drink. A 'Happy Hour' runs from 1pm to 2pm, offering a 20% discount at concessions. The same discount applies at the Amazon Tap & Go Bars. These offers cannot be used alongside a Season Ticket discount and exclude the Independence Sports Bar, outside vendors, Jolly Hog, Feed the Goat, and Copper Coffee.
Junior Reds members can also pick up prizes on the day. The latest issue of the YOU REDS! Junior Magazine, Issue #21, is available for free. It includes a sticker sheet and can be collected from Fan Experience Ambassadors at every entrance, the Bristol Sport Store, or pop-up retail locations.
The Family Day provides a positive backdrop for an important match. After a draw and a loss to start the season, City are five points behind early leaders Millwall. A positive result against Portsmouth could provide vital momentum. Fans can track the team's progress throughout the campaign on our standings page and view the full schedule on our fixtures list.
Saturday is designed to be about more than just the 90 minutes on the pitch. By creating a festival atmosphere with so many free and discounted activities, Bristol City aims to inspire its next generation of supporters while hoping the team can secure a much-needed three points.
