Bristol City's Andreas Weimann has joined Cheltenham on a free transfer after leaving Derby. The 35-year-old striker scored 51 goals in six seasons at Bristol City, with 29 assists in 216 appearances. He was most recently at Derby, where he played 27 times last season and scored once before going on loan to Austrian Bundesliga team Rapid Vienna.

Weimann's career in English football surpasses 19 years and also includes spells at Championship clubs Wolves, West Brom, Watford, and Blackburn. He was at the Rams but following the expiration of his contract over the summer joins Steve Cotterill's League Two side on a free transfer.
Why it matters for Bristol City
The Rams announced in May that the centre-forward was out of contract and would not be offered new terms. Cheltenham manager Steve Cotterill said Weimann, who has been capped 26 times by Austria, brings "proven quality" to the team. "He has played at a consistently high level throughout his career as well as for his country," he said. "He has some excellent qualities and we believe he will compliment our attacking options well."
